Two things Victorians loved: stars and Amethyst- and this ring has both! Amethyst was a particularly popular gemstone of the period, made famous by the Queens favouritism towards it, as well as the invention of purple synthetic dye, making the colour more accessible to everyday people. When this coincided with the discovery of new Brazilian deposits of Amethyst, a trend was born! These 4 stones are set in the classical star engraving, with the gold a slightly rosier-hue. c.1900
